I have started a new blog for my journalism program. I am going to be using that one more because... well, I get credit for it.
You can find me here http://stevensworld.wordpress.com/
This blog is not just going to be vegan though... It is gong to have a lot about veganism, human rights, gay issues and commentary on society and of course pop culture. Very Eclectic, much like myself! Tune in!
Life and love
I still don't get it.
It hurts.... How can a human see a creature in pain, and ignore it?
Everyday I live my life. I don't spend every minute thinking about animal sufferage.
I eat healthy. I eat well. I eat lots. I don't think much about it, but I don't eat animals. I don't eat animal bi-products.
If I think an animal may have suffereded in the production of my food, I don't eat it.
It's simple.
I just don't eat it.
I don't buy it, I don't want it, I just don't do it.
I don't bring it up often, but when people start to talk about me being a vegan, they always say, "I could never be a vegetarian."
Why not? "Because it tastes good."
SELFISH!
I don't think about it often. I go to the supermarket, I know what I will eat and what I won't eat. Just like everyone does.
How can someone say any life is better than another.
Every life is special. Every life is important.
I can't stand the thought that there are so many lives suffering. So maybe lives ending. Every day. Every minute. And I can't do anything to stop it.
So what do I do? I just don't support it.
I'm not going to give my money to the cattle industry. The diary industrty kills as many animals, so they're not going to get my hard earned cash.
In my truest heart of hearts. I have faith in our planet and in all of our human family.
One day...
And so I send this out.
I send this out into the universe...
Next time you see an animal; a cat a dog, a pig or a mouse: look into their eyes. If you don't see a heart. If you can't see their soul. If you can't see their life, their spirit, the love they possess. Then maybe... then maybe I'm wrong.
But I want to tell you that I see it. I know it's there. The life, the spirit. It's so special.
And it's killed, disrespected. Murdered. Desecrated. How is one life less important than the next? How can that life be made your snack - then forgotten?
I ask you: next time you are out, feeling peckish. Make the right choice. Be compassionate. Be honest with yourself.
Don't be selfish.

Dancing With The Stars
One of our favourite vegetarians, Jenny Garth is dancing up a storm this season on Dancing with the Stars. Don't forget to vote for Jenny every week!
That Vegetarian diet is keeping the star in great shape!
The Year of the Tranny
This has nothing to do with vegans, it just made me happy. It makes me so happy to see different lifestyles reflected in pop culture.
Candis Cayne is a transgendered woman who plays Billy Baldwin's transgender mistress Carmelita on ABC's primetime soap Dirty Sexy Money making her the first MtF playing a MtF in prime time. Candis was on The View last week and said she is thrilled that '07 is "the year of the tranny." Check out Dirty Sexy Money Wednesday nights at 10 on ABC

And if you want to see the very first transgender lead character on a primetime show. Check out Rebecca Romijn play Alexis Meade on ABC's Ugly Betty Thursday nights at 8. Romijn does an amazing job playing Alexis. It's great to see a strong, confident Transgender character on network television. Kudos to ABC for starting to break down those walls.

Transparent frog
Japanese scientists have created a transparent frog. Normally I am against cruel breeding like this, however the main reason for this transparent frog is to study biology without having to kill, slice or hurt the frogs. So at first I think this is a great idea, but it does seem a little impractical. They are going to give 14 year old kids live frogs to play with? I see a whole new world of animal cruelty opening up here. Also this frog doesn't look transparent at all. Kinda just weird looking. So it's a catch 22; you're damned if you do, damned if you don't! I love the idea that they won't be killing frogs, but now they're just going to be using them as little study-aids/slaves. That's no life for these froggies. I agree with the importance of studying anatomy, but what's wrong with the good old fashioned computer models?
ALICIA SILVERSTONE NUDE - PETA AD
This is why I love Alicia Silverstone. She always stays true to herself. I cannot figure what was so controversial about this ad. She barely flashed some booty, but I love the angle this campaign is taking. They're saying, "Why should you go veg? Because it's damn healthy!".
